What is hydrovac excavation?

Hydrovac excavation digs with pressurized water and a vacuum truck instead of a bucket, which greatly reduces the risk of striking buried utilities. GreenFlow runs two hydrovac combo trucks for potholing, daylighting and slot trenching.

How much does hydrovac excavation cost?

Hydrovac is $1,420 for a half day (4 hrs) or $2,560 for a full day (8 hrs) all-in, with overage at $355/hr. Mobilization within 30 miles of O'Fallon is included; your final price is confirmed in a written quote.

What is potholing?

Potholing exposes a small section of a buried utility so its exact location and depth can be verified before digging.

Why hydrovac instead of a backhoe?

Water and vacuum excavation greatly reduces the risk of damaging buried lines and keeps the hole tight.

  • Half day (4 hrs) $1,420 all-in ($355/hr); Full day (8 hrs) $2,560 all-in ($320/hr); hourly overage $355/hr.
  • Includes operator, mobilization within 30 miles of O'Fallon, fuel and consumables. No fuel surcharge or trip fee.
  • Overtime/after-hours 1.5×; Saturday 1.5×; Sunday/holiday 2×.
  • Beyond 30 miles: standard hourly rate, portal-to-portal.
  • Off-site spoils disposal: cost plus handling. Water if not available on site: at cost. Extra operator and hose runs over 100 ft: quoted per job.
  • Client responsibilities: 811 locate request and permits, backfill/restoration, traffic control, contaminated material handling.
